“I needed motivation and a plan to eat better and exercise consistently”

I was very active growing up, so I went to college and became a physical education teacher. Being physically fit has always been important to me and until I turned 40, it was easy. I ate whatever I wanted but was active enough to burn the extra calories. I developed some bad habits – the main one was drinking sweet tea all day long.

I needed motivation and a plan to eat better and exercise consistently. I saw Rob’s personal training ad in the paper, so I called him. I have been going to the Campo YMCA since it opened several years ago and working out pretty consistently. I was going to Step class 2 to 3 times a week and BodyPump class 2 to 3 times a week, but I was not seeing the results I wanted.

One Friday evening, I went to one of Rob’s seminars and heard about the nutrition and training program that he and Davie were giving that night. After the seminar I signed up for 3 months. The first week was the hardest, just like they said it would be. I cut out sugar (withdrawal from sweet tea is not pretty) and ate small meals throughout the day. I am not a morning person, but I got up very early 3 mornings a week to train with Davie. I still went to my Step class at the Y to get my cardio in. It didn’t take long for my clothes to feel looser and looser. That motivated me more than anything else. People who I hardly knew would come up to me and ask me how I was losing the weight. Boy, did that make me feel good!

After 4 months I have went from weighing 159 to 142 lbs. (lost 17 lbs.) and decrease my body fat 12.1% from 28.9% to 16.8%. At 51 years old, I went from the 57th% ranking to the 96th % for my age group for fitness. It has become sort of a challenge to be creative about my meals and snacks. My husband is also involved in our menu planning and is much more aware of what he is eating too. My best friend, Beth, is also training with Rob and we discuss our meal planning quite often. It is much easier and more fun when you have people who are also interested in what you are doing. But the most exciting part of this whole process has been that all of my clothes have become way too big. I went from a size 10 to a size 4 and shopping for clothes has never been so much fun.

I am pretty much where I want to be in terms of weight and body fat, but I have learned a different way to look at training and nutrition. I want my body to always be a fat burning machine and I want to fuel it that way. These past 4 months have definitely been life changing for me and I hope to continue.

 “I have Lupus”

“Because of the disease and the medication; I have gained a lot of weight over the past few years.  I was tired of feeling sick and tired…. I saw one of Rob’s testimonials in the paper last year and decided to give him a call, for me – gym’s did not work, sometimes getting out of bed is difficult, let alone the fact of driving to the gym and being left alone with all those machines, half the time not knowing what to do or if you are doing it right.  I am doing a lot of walking but needed to increase my bone density which is declining.”

“Rob comes over once a week for me, rain or shine, Gets me going whether I want it or not.  I like the fact that on days when I ache, or I feel exhausted, he is willing to adapt, helps me, encourages me and on the good days, boy, he really gets me going, challenges me to do the best that I can.  I feel more confident about myself, my clothes fit better than ever, have more energy but the most important thing for me is I feel stronger and that’s what gets me going every Tuesday morning when he shows up whether want it or not.”  For more information about Rob’s programs go to www.RobZFitness.com or call him at (813) 571-3700.

“I did not think I was out of shape”

“I exercised regularly, alternating cardiovascular workouts with modest strength training. I had completed the Breast Cancer 3-Day 60 mile walk last year without any difficulty. I thought I was doing well for age 37. Unfortunately, I was wrong…”

“In my first meeting with Rob, I learned I was not in great (or even good) shape. I also learned that I had a fairly high body fat content (26.2%). I knew I needed to change my diet because of a family history of cardiovascular disease but I never followed through with eating better. I was always saying I’ll change next year. Rob’s program changed all of that. I’m getting in better shape and feeling healthier.”

“I have worked out with Rob for 3 months now and have seen tremendous results. I have lost almost 20 pounds and over 10 percent of my body fat (26.2% to 16.1%). I have lost over 2 inches in my hips and almost 2 inches around my waist. I’ve had to buy new suits and new casual clothes because of my weight loss. More importantly, my cardiovascular fitness is better and I am getting much stronger. I no longer only work out when it’s convenient. Instead, working out has become a priority because it makes me feel better.”

“Rob’s proper eating plan is easy to follow and I don’t “fall off the wagon” because of the flexibility of the program. My eating habits are now much better and because of the flexibility of the plan, I don’t feel as if I’m deprived of the foods I want.”

“I want to see my three young children grow old. I want to play sports with them and remain active. Training with Rob and following his plan motivates me to do just that. I recommend Rob to anyone who is trying to get in better shape. In fact, my wife is training with Rob and is seeing results that are just as good, if not better.”

“I have returned to my regular size”

“After 3 kids and with forty quickly approaching, I noticed that my clothes weren’t fitting anymore. I had gradually gained weight and became less and less toned. When I finally had to buy shorts three sizes up from normal, I had had enough. So I asked for a personal trainer for Christmas.”
“I started working out with Rob three times a week in January. And fit in cardio when I could. The first month didn’t go exactly as I had hoped, as I only lost one pound. Rob assured me that next month would be different. I started to follow his eating plan and work in cardio more regularly. The results at the end of the month were very encouraging.”
“At the end of 5 months, I have returned to my regular size, and sometimes even smaller. I am almost at my pre-first baby weight and recently wore a bikini for the first time in many years.”
“Rob’s eating plan is easy to follow and allows for flexibility. You can even eat fast food if you know what to look for. Rob pushes me harder than I would push myself. I now enjoy working out. I always disliked doing anything cardio, but now I can say, I actually like running. I have seen great results with Rob’s training program and eating plan. I have lost almost 10% of my body fat, losing 15 pounds of fat, but gaining 3 pounds of muscle. I am stronger and have better aerobic fitness than ever before. Family and friends have noticed the difference. My husband and mom have started working out with Rob and are seeing great results as well.”

“Rob changed my life”

“Life changes daily, we notice some of them but most things are so small they go mostly unnoticed. So over the past 10 years, the most unnoticed changes totaled up to 18 lbs, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. There had been the occasional words from a Doctor or two about the need to exercise twice per week, but workout apathy and “I’m eating OK” were among those things that did not change.”

‘Until I met Rob.”

“It almost happened by accident, a family member made the decision to change and in my effort to support his decision, I joined Tom for a 50 minute workout twice per week, killing two birds with one stone.”

“Then it happened again.”

“Just like the mostly unnoticed changes, time past and I’ve come to look forward to Monday and Thursday evenings as well as the 1-2 other “cardio” workouts per week that have joined together with Rob’s help to remove the results of the last 10 years in just over 10 weeks. Now it has been over 6 months and I’m learning to maintain my new body.”

“Rob changed my life, he can change yours. Join Us!”

“I’ll Do It Tomorrow”

“I’ve been fit my entire life and within the past 2 years I began to notice the weight and my pant size gradually increase. When I began with RobZFitness back in Jan 2007 I was just moving up to a size 12. My energy levels were depleted and my mood swings were very apparent to everyone around me. I was not sleeping very well and my appetite was out of control with the feeling of hunger all the time. I was trying to exercise daily but with the demands of my days, I was finding myself at the end of the day saying “I’ll do it tomorrow”. I began to face some physical limitations along with health concerns due to the weight I was putting on and knew it was time for change.”

“Some may think that the cost of a personal trainer is too costly, and so did I. By allocating the cost of my health and what I was spending on junk food, groceries, and fast food restaurants (approx. 3-4 times per week) the actual comparison is astounding. Although your spending for training is all up front, your spending for an unhealthy lifestyle including all the added expenses of bigger clothing, Dr. visits, medication, etc. is over a period of time. I believe Personal training wins hands down. I really needed someone who would hold me accountable and get me moving forward with “No Excuses”.”

“My trainer, Davie Ferraro, teaches me all the latest and greatest exercises in the gym, he has instilled within me all the healthy eating habits that goes along with my weight training. Their sound nutritional plan is a key to my success and it works; just look at my results. Within 18 sessions I was down 5% of body fat, I went from a size 12 to an 8, and my strength training is up approx. 25%. My energy levels are sustained and I’m just a happier person to be around. I’m eating 3 meals a day and supplementing with 3-4 meals with quality protein shakes that falls within their eating plan. I no longer have that feeling of hunger all the time, I’m losing inches and I’m being held accountable.”

“I have to admit that I was nervous about working out in what seemed to be a gentlemen’s gym, but now feel part of a family. The atmosphere is professional and the gym is clean. The dedication of the trainers Rob & Davie motivates me to be a better trainee and overall a better person. So if you are looking to lose those unwanted pounds or just firm everything up consider RobZ Fitness, you will only be receiving your “Personal Best Fitness Training“. For more information go to www.RobZFitness.com or call 813-571-3700.”

“All I wanted to do was sleep”

“As I entered the year that is mostly associated with (OLD AGE 60), I was not of good health either mentally or physically. My blood pressure was substantially above acceptable levels and many of my blood measurements were in the unacceptable range. I had been able to dodge the major illnesses but my body was beginning to break down. My knees ached all of the time and my thoughts were that surely I would need a transplant just to remain mobile. My thoughts focused on the advertisement for the (HOVERROUND). God forbid!!!!! At that time I weighed 228 pounds, and all I wanted to do was sleep.”

“We attend the church that one of Rob’s students attend and had seen the extremely positive results that he had achieved and decided to give Rob a try. I would like to say that the process has been easy and effortless but that would not be true. I have been under Rob’s direction for roughly four months and have been very pleased with the results. My lowest weight achieved to this date is 189 pounds and I continue to lose even more. My body fat percentage has dropped from 35.5% to 23.6%.  My blood pressure and blood measurements are now in the normal ranges again and my knees don’t hurt at all. My energy level is much better and as I enter my later years I feel ready for whatever is around the corner.  The bonus to all of the work is the formula that has been given to me for fitness and good health for the rest of my life. Rob’s system works!!!” For more information about Zulkoski or RobZFitness, call Rob at 571-3700 or visit www.RobZFitness.com.

“I never knew exactly what to do “

“After having two kids, one day I realized I was not happy with how I had let my body go.  This was not who I was. I began working out on my own, but saw minimal results.  I never knew exactly what to do or how to do it. That’s when I saw Rob’s personal training ad and I thought maybe that’s what I needed to get back into shape.”

“After training with Rob at my house for 4 months, I had lost almost 6% body fat.  My clothes were fitting better and I was learning the correct way to exercise. At the end of those 4 months I decided to try exercising on my own. The positive results stopped.  I realized I needed the motivation, accountability and expertise of a trainer;  especially one like Rob. He encourages me to push myself. Even when I feel like I can’t do another push-up, he convinces me that I can do at least one more.  I believe him and I actually do it!  That’s a great feeling.”

“I called Rob again when he opened his new studio off Lithia Pinecrest.  There are so many more exercises we can do now with his new equipment.  I worked hard that first month back, but I did not follow Rob’s eating plan as closely as I should have nor did I do the cardio activity I needed to do.  The results were lacking.  Every measurement for body fat was exactly the same as the month before.  It was disappointing, but it proved to me that Rob’s plan really works.”

“After those limited results, I was determined to stick to the plan.  I still worked hard with Rob and Davie in the fitness center, but I also stayed on the eating plan and did cardio activity on my days in between strength training.  One month later, my body fat is down almost 3%.  I have now gone from a size 8 to a 4.”

“Both Rob and Davie know how to get the results you need in order to change your body.  They make workouts fun, everything from jumping rope to tricks with playing cards.  If you are ready to change your lifestyle and your body, call RobZ Fitness at (813) 571-3700 or go to www.RobZFitness.com for more information.”

Losing Weight the Zulkoski Way

By Lisa Mook Sang – Osprey Observer

He doesn’t call it his trophy belt for nothing.

The belt, which used to fit a size 48-inch waist, now has had to be adjusted to fit 59-year-old Emilio Rivera’s 36-inch waist, as the Bloomingdale resident lost 50-pounds following RobZFitness owner Rob Zulkoski’s weight-loss program. “It practically wraps wound my body. It’s my key, I just look at my belt to get my inspiration,” Rivera said. “I’ve had to punch seven holes in it just so it will fit.” Since late February, Rivera has been training regularly with Zulkoski with the goal of losing weight by his son’s wedding in July. “I just wanted to look good in the wedding pictures,” Rivera said. But he did even better by losing a staggering 50-pounds in just four-and-a-half months. “I feel younger, energized and it’s fun because now I can buy normal clothes,” Rivera said.

Before starting the weight-loss program Rivera was on a list of medications to treat health problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes. However, after working with Zulkoski, his doctor took him off all of his medications. “Through his exercise and nutrition program my health had improved so much my doctor took me off my medicine and just told me to keep doing what I was doing,” Rivera said. Through a strict diet and exercise routine, Rivera went from 240-pounds to 190 in just four-and-a-half months.

“At first it was hard, but now it’s natural thing, and I never thought I’d say that, ” Rivera said. “It’s been an eye opener and now it’s become my lifestyle.” Zulkoski is no ordinary trainer either. He brings the program to your own home, and uses only free weights to whip you into shape. He also brings a more personal touch to the business. “His program is great, you don’t have to do the weight-loss program, but just be fit… he’s the man,” Rivera said. “He’s there for you, it’s almost like you have a personal relationship with him.” For more information about Zukoski or RobZFitness, call Rob at 571-3700 or visit www.RobZFitness.com.

I have been a long time friend of 15 years with Rob Zulkoski. Rob was after me for three years to come on board and help expand the business and change the way people feel and look for the better. It was a long time passion of mine to be fit and to do it the right way and I joined with Rob and RobZFitness on December 1st 2007.

I was born and raised in Tampa, FL and now reside in Brooksville, FL. I am a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Management and Sales in Agribusiness. I am a Certified Personal Trainer through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. I have been married to my wife Robin since March 25, 2006 and we are cherishing our bundle of joy, Emma Kate, who was born on August 10th 2007.

I grew up learning and experiencing the outdoors that God created for us with my father. I am proud to say that I am an avid outdoorsman who enjoys both fresh and saltwater fishing, hunting whitetails, hogs, and turkeys, four-wheeling, fitness and most of all, time with my family and friends. I am a huge fan of country music and my favorite artist is George Strait.

I was introduced to the fitness industry when I was a junior at the University of Florida. It was my goal to reduce body fat, increase lean muscle, and to achieve the most desired “six pack”. By making a change in my lifestyle, exercise program, and with a sound nutritional program I was able to reach my goals. Little did I know that I could take it this far. And oh by the way, I did it the “natural way”. I have had my body fat tested at 3.6% and Rob constantly reminds me of it every day by not allowing me to slack off. There is one thing that separates both Rob and I from other trainers…it’s that we walk the walk and talk the talk.

Both Rob and I are very passionate about what we do. Nothing excites us more than watching our clients reach their goals. Rob and I are committed to get you the ultimate strategy for lifetime physique transformation through a sound nutritional lifestyle and exercise. If you are ready to get in the best shape of your life, join us today. Our motto is “Always train to gain, never to maintain.” So give it your best and make the time each and every day.

“I have more energy now than I have had in years”

“In August of 2005 as I approached my 45th Birthday I finally decided it was time that I got serious about my health and losing weight so I started a diet/fitness program with RobZFitness. To say that I am pleased with the results would be a huge understatement because I am ecstatic with the results I have attained. He promises results if you are willing to follow his plan. I never would have dreamed that I could lose 102 pounds in less than 8 months, but with Rob Zulkoski’s expertise and my focused determination towards his eating and fitness plan I have experienced remarkable results. The first 3 months I lost 50 pounds, 77 pounds after 6 months, which helped to motivate me to continue to train and eat healthy. Rob has been there with me every step of the way; he is always interested in what I am eating and how frequently I train. Rob never minds when I call him to ask some of the many questions that I have had during this process. With Rob’s help I have learned what and when to eat. I have also learned how to workout correctly to see the results I was looking for. I can’t say enough about Rob’s professionalism, and dedication to his clients. He is always seeking to help you reach your Personal Best. From the very first appointment Rob was confident that we could be successful if I would follow his plan, stay focused and be committed.”

“I have more energy now than I have had in years. I have been donating fat clothes by the box. I have seen my cholesterol drop more than 50 points. My waist size has gone from a very tight 44 to a loose 38. My shirt size from a 2X to XL. I even notice a difference in the way my shoes fit. I am now wearing clothes than I haven’t worn in years and my wedding ring now fits again. If you are ready to get serious about losing weight the natural way, then Rob at RobZFitness is your man. When you call Rob, tell him Jeff sent you.”

“On a personal note, please accept my heartfelt appreciation to you for your dedication to your profession. You have helped to change my life; I can now walk with my head held high, because I have changed my entire lifestyle, as far as fitness and nutrition go. Thank You for answering my call for help, and sticking with me through this entire process.”

Sincerely Jeff Hooks

I was born in Ft. Worth, Texas and graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 2003 and played for the Bloomingdale Bulls baseball team for three years. I then graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA in 2007 with degree in Exercise Science and Fitness Programming. I am currently certified through AFAA and FiTour for personal training and I am CPR and First Aid trained. I am looking into obtaining future certifications through ACSM and NSCA(CSCS).

While in high school, baseball was my interest. I did exercises only to improve my baseball game. My interest of exercise and fitness started to develop when my baseball coach required team workouts. Serious workouts! These workouts were not only for the game but, a workout for our entire well being. From this point on, I began loving and enjoying exercise. Since I enjoyed exercising so much, I sought to pursue a career in fitness. While in college, my requirements for my fitness degree were to shadow numerous exercise oriented jobs. I enjoyed exploring different avenues for fitness but, I discovered my passion was with personal training. I value being able to develop a relationship with my clients, and to be able to watch their confidence and self-worth increase though exercise and nutritional achievements. I always deliver to give my 110% effort to help my clients achieve their goals. I encourage each client to reach their initial goals and help them pursue new ones. Like Rob says, “Always train for your personal best.”

In December of 2006 I married my wonderful wife, Tina. We live in the area and have a dog named, Sugar. My parents are Kelly and Beth Green. My father, a missionary, is on staff at Bell Shoals Baptist Church and my mother works as his secretary.

Even though I am a personal trainer and love working out, bodybuilding is one of my hobbies. Over the past two years I have developed a love for the sport. In the coming years I look forward to competing in my first natural bodybuilding competition. I am also a huge movie buff. My wife and I really enjoy watching all kinds of movies, especially THRILLERS!

Month 2:     Counting Carbs & Losing Despite Vacation

By Marie Gilmore

It is hard to believe that in my whirlwind life, two kids, three deadlines, vacation, two months have already passed with RobZFitness owner Rob Zulkoski at my side. This month, after getting a three-times weekly workout routine established, Zulkoski started really honing in on eating habits. Although he started eight weeks ago with encouraging me to eat lots of protein six times per day and watch my carbs and fats, he also put me on a high-carb, low-fat dinner two nights a week. This month, Zulkoski really got my eating established. Each meal, I am looking to eat 30 grams of carbs and 20 grams of fats. For me, for three of the meals this is a low-carb milk chocolate protein shake with a tablespoon of olive oil to get the fats in. I know, I know, sounds weird, olive oil… but it is the balance of protein and fats and low carbs that puts us into “fat burning mode,” according to Zulkoski. For the other meals, I am looking for high protein, low fat and low carb. This is really achieved by lots of chicken, fish, cheese, nuts and broccoli, cauliflower, salad, etc.

My secret, shhhh, don’t tell Zulkoski, is that I try to make it to Ruby Tuesdays at least once a week for some to-go low-carb cheesecake. A couple bites each night helps keep me on track.

For the next four weeks, Zulkoski is going to tackle my in-between meal snacking to keep the fat burning up and continue the three-times weekly workouts. Last month, I actually went on vacation for a week to Canada and can’t say I was a saint, but during my seven day vacation, I did do my cardio workouts five of the days. But, on my carb night I really indulged with chocolate fondue. Upon my return, both Zulkoski and myself were thrilled that I had lost a pound!

Regardless, I am feeling good and like I am accomplishing something. It is getting easier to follow the diet especially when a pair of shorts from the back of my closet actually buttoned this week! The workouts are not fun; sweating is not fun but, feeling good is fun and the thought of having to report my results again next month….terrifyng! My next goal, to get under 30 percent body fat.

For more information or to contact Rob Zulkoski directly, visit his website at www.RobZFitness.com  or call 571-3700.

Month 3:   32 Sit-ups is Good

By Marie Gilmore

At this month’s fitness test, even I was surprised by the number of situps I did. In one minute, I did 30 pushups and then following with 32 sit-ups in one minute and I am happy with those results. Especially considering that just 12 weeks ago, I couldn’t achieve a single sit up. My blood pressure is excellent and all results are improving. In addition, weight is down 18 pounds overall and I will be excited to hit the 20 pound mark.

RobZFitness owner Rob Zulkoski is also happy with the results and says that the more muscle that I build, the faster the pounds will fall.

Getting into a routine to work out or do cardio more than three times a week is tough. On deadline week especially, it is hard to find the time. But, I have also found that after 12 weeks, exercise is becoming habit and I enjoy getting it done at the beginning of the day so that I can feel a sense of accomplishment all day. Much easier to stay on diet if I feel that I have started out well.

Next month, I am going to work with Rob to explain the three minute step test and what heart rate recovery and fitness have to do with each other.

Bear with me and thank you for all the well wishes! I look forward to continuing the path to fit!!

For more information or to contact Rob Zulkoski directly, visit his website at www.RobZFitness.com or call 571-3700.

Month 4:     Metabolism Key To Program

By Marie Gilmore

Month 4: Working out with RobZFitness owner Rob Zulkoski and still feeling great and working towards a goal. Total weight loss at this point is right at 25 pounds overall with a final destination of 40 more pounds to lose. Starting out weight training with Zulkoski is a learning experience; he doesn’t try to say that just working out with him three times per week is the key to weight loss but tries to encourage an overall program of weight training, cardiovascular training and nutrition. With the weight training, we work together three times per week. Then, I work out at least three times per week with 45-60 minutes of cardio workouts, treadmill, elliptical trainer etc. and then the final piece of the puzzle is nutrition. As you are working out, Zulkoski will explain that all three pieces are needed for jump starting your metabolism and turning the body into a fat burning machine.

“In an effort to lose fat, you need energy,” describes Zulkoski. “You’ve probably heard that exercising will give you energy, but how can you exercise if you don’t have the energy? It’s simple. You’ve got to consume fuel (food).”

When most people think diet, they think that they have to go hungry but actually, Zulkoski is going to encourage you to eat six times a day; it is just what you eat that is important.

Who wouldn’t like bacon and eggs for breakfast, grilled chicken smothered in cheese with steamed broccoli for lunch and grilled or broiled salmon with a fresh salad and asparagus on the side plus three snacks in between? Doesn’t sound too much like you would have to go hungry, actually, I am eating much richer foods now that I am dieting and the best part is that after a couple weeks of kicking my carb habit, I don’t find it as hard to resist carbs and make better choices and….I haven’t been to Ruby Tuesday for my low-carb cheesecake for three weeks.

And, unlike the Atkins or South Beach diets, Zulkoski encourages carbs on some days, lots of carbs, big plates of spaghetti, pizza, oatmeal on two days per week for the final two meals. One hundred carbs per meal is preferred but…don’t mix fats and carbs. Have pasta and marinara or veggie pizza but don’t mix fats and carbs which will stick.

Zulkoski’s program makes a lot of sense and leaves you feeling satisfied. Eating perfectly every meal is tough but following the general guidelines has been working for me. The hardest part is making good choices at restaurants.

Regardless, I am still learning and eating my three meals with three milk chocolate protein shakes in between and eating every three hours when I am awake. I acknowledge that I have been a carb addict for a very long time but I am trying to make a lifestyle change for good!

So far, I am very happy with the results and can’t wait to lose 40 more pounds and do a ‘fat pants’ picture.

For more information or to contact Rob Zulkoski directly, visit his website at www.RobZFitness.com or call 571-3700.

Month 6:    Half Way To Goal: Stay on Track

When I first started working out with Rob Zulkoski, owner of RobZFitness, we had in mind a series similar to “The Biggest Loser.” Do a series of feature stories following the progress of one person’s working out. I didn’t have a lot of big hopes since my former efforts at a commercial gym and with a trainer didn’t really pan out, so I said, ‘Hey, why not!” But, now, six months into the program and more than half way to my goal, I am saying, “Why did I wait?”

This month, despite some back strain that kept me on the treadmill but away from strength training for two weeks, I marked a loss of five pounds which brings my total to 35 pounds from the time Rob and I started. I had a goal of losing 65 pounds and now, I have just 30 to go. When this is achieved, I promised Rob I would splash it all over the front page of the paper and I will, because this is a huge accomplishment that means so much for my overall health.

Working out has a lot to do with the program and maintaining three times per week workouts with Rob keeps me on track. We do a series of strength training exercises geared to maximize muscle tone and increase repetitions, not build a body building physique. In addition, I can still use some fine tuning on the diet which will help me reach that 30 pound goal faster.

Eating six times per day, every three hours and trying to maintain a high protein, low carb, low fat diet is not always fun, but now it is hard to remember another way.

Rob’s protein powder (30g protein, 2 carbs, 2 grams fat per shake) still makes up the majority-three of my daily meals.

I do a protein shake for breakfast at about 7:30 a.m., another at snack at 10:30 a.m. lunch of chicken or lean meat and fat-free cheese and raw vegetables at about 1:30 p.m. dinner at 5:30 p.m. and then another protein shake about 9 p.m.

Doing this program, it feels like it is always time to eat, but it is geared to keeping the metabolism burning for the maximum number of hours per day.

So, if your New Year’s resolution includes getting in shape, think about calling Zulkoski for an initial consultation to see how his program make sense. Call 571-3700 or visit www.RobZFitness.com.

2 Year Mark:    Editor Completes 100 lb. Weight Loss

By Marie Gilmore

Two years, 100 lbs., two 5K runs and 14 clothing sizes later, I am happy to say that I am not quite half the person I used to be….but I am 100 lbs. lighter.

My weight loss journey started just after my now 2-and-a-half year old son Troy was born. I was done being a ‘big’ girl and tired of being embarrassed that as a good mom, a successful businesswoman and a happy wife, I was ashamed of the one aspect of my life I couldn’t get a handle on, my weight.

So finally, I met Rob Zulkoski, a local personal trainer who came to homes to train clients and offer his unique eating plan of low-carb, high-protein options coupled with strength training and a secret weapon of high-carb meals twice a week to offset cravings and give the body much needed respite.

So, working out with Rob three times per week with my own cardio workouts in between were the key. Following the diet plan was a great guide that I have tweaked over the years to include my own ‘treats’, low-carb of course.

But, I also have to appreciate the support of the community, my neighbors (Thank you Anne St. John and Dawn Henderson), my family and friends for always looking out for me and keeping me on the straight and narrow. In addition, setting up workout dates really helps to keep me accountable.

“This weight loss is absolutely incredible,” said Zulkoski who adds that I am the first female client he has had to reach this milestone. “This is a remarkable weight loss and Marie now has a great improvement in overall heath with top statistics in blood pressure, body fat, cardiovascular endurance and I have been proud to guide her. This has been all her work with just my help and guidance in between. People have to do this for themselves and have to want to make a change for themselves.”

I am proud to announce that after watching my success, my husband Doug has just joined our now twice weekly workouts with Rob and has dropped 25 pounds in three months. Zulkoski, now working out of his 2,400 sq. ft. training studio in the Stein Mart Plaza is available for evaluations and monitors his clients every step of the way.

Watch for me to continue pursuing the low-carb lifestyle and watch for my healthy eating articles which will debut next month called, Taking Out The Carbage (thanks Jose Melendez!).
